Haberdasher?

Why is this a mastery title for males? I know that haberdasher is often associated with hats, but it is in fact not related. Some, but not most, haberdasheries sell hats, but that is it. They do not make hats. A haberdashery is a shop that sells dressmaking notions and embellishments like ribbons and buttons and such. Haberdasher is one of the most misused clothing related words I know of, and to imply they are hat makers is simply misinformation. CarniDollMancer February 11 2016

Speculation and Discussion

Taken from the Magical Speculation thread in the forums:

  • Creation of the magic hats.
  • unknown what all you can create a magic hat to do.
  • possibly creates 'wondrous items' like flying carpets.

You can probably pull things (like wabbits) out of hats with Hat Magic. Stagemancy seems to be the presentational, "bogus" magic of Earth made real. Commander I. Heartly Noah June 3 2009

Perhaps a Hat Magician could create special 'weapon hats' which could be thrown at enemies, like shuriken. Jszellmer 22:29, 9 July 2013 (EDT)

Element and Axis

Hat Magic is Stagemancy, magic that uses all three elements in conjunction. It is aligned to the axis of Erf. So hat magic either involves the transmission (Motion) of Living Matter across Erf, or it involves the transmission of information (Life) OR stuff (Matter) across Erf. Commander I.
