Panel 1

Wanda Firebaugh, outlined in light, stands with her feet splayed and cyan light shining in a disc above her upstretched hands. The room is dark, with a large red cylinder outlined in red light filling the centre and blue squares outlined in blue light orbiting in the air around the cylinder.[1][edit]

Wanda Firebaugh: The spell is cast, Lord.

I have only to concentrate on the target and speak the trigger word.

Stanley the Plaid: Okay, listen...

Panel 2

Stanley grins eagerly, clenching his fist as he envisions his perfect warlord.[edit]

Stanley the Plaid: I want a big guy.

Big, powerful, dashing, handsome, heroic...

...a guy who'll shock and awe[2] them, just standing on the city walls, commanding the fight.

Panel 3

Wanda throws an irritated-looking glance over her shoulder at Stanley. Her eyes and clothing glow with cyan energy.[edit]

Wanda Firebaugh: I thought we agreed I was looking for the perfect military mind.

A strategic genius, not an ornament.

Panel 4

Still grinning excitedly, Stanley makes an emphatic gesture.[edit]

Stanley the Plaid: I want that, too!

Now think. I want a guy who's commanded all different kinds of battles.

I want him to be obsessed with war. Somebody who plans wars and kills his foes for fun.

I want a guy who snacks on gwiffons and eats Marbits for BREAKFAST!

Panel 5

Wanda turns her face back up to the disc of cyan light as Stanley continues to give her directions.[edit]

Stanley the Plaid: And I know the spell will bind him to serve me, but I don't want a morale case. Get me somebody who actually wants to be summoned.

Wanda Firebaugh: Yes Lord.

Stanley the Plaid: And don't screw up the basics, either.

Panel 6

Stanley's grin hasn't faded as he continues to list.[edit]

Stanley the Plaid: He's gotta speak Language.

Breathe the air and things.[3]

Everything should seem familiar and safe to him. No crazy surprises.

Wanda Firebaugh: Lord, it's difficult...

Panel 7

Wanda looks stressed as she continues to hold the energies of the Summon Perfect Warlord Spell.[edit]

Wanda Firebaugh: I...

I am not a Findamancer!

I was looking for a mind! All these physical requirements are too much, I--

Panel 8

The energies in the casting room start to blur and grow brighter as Wanda completes the spell.[edit]

Stanley the Plaid: Oh all right, find your genius. Just make him BIG, okay?

Can you do that much, Commander?

Wanda Firebaugh: Thank you, Lord.

...I have him...

Panel 9

A bulky humanoid silhouette, fallen on all fours, appears in the casting circle in the middle of the Tower of Efdup casting chamber.[edit]
Sound: PLOT[5] [edit]

  1. ^ Shock and Awe is a colloquial term for a military doctrine developed in the U.S. in 1996. The term was used regularly in the buildup to and early action of the 2003 Iraq War.
