Proposed Canon

Leadership is a form of Natural Date-a-mancy and a special ability of Warlords and some Archons.Erf-b1-p040aSame-site.PNG It grants all units under direct command of a warlord a bonus.Erf-b1-p084aSame-site.PNG Leadership also allows the Unit to give orders to units it is stacked with, as well as prevent it from auto-attacking non-allies. Leaders can specify particular enemy units to strike, while ignoring others in the same stack and hex.

Casters confer a leadership bonus to certain units dependent on specializationErf-b1-p095Same-site.PNG.

Leadership can also refer to a group of leaders, or to a group that have the Leadership ability, without being a reference to the Leadership ability.

Unled stacks are subject to orders from commanders in other stacks in the same hex, or from the capital.LIAB Text 24

Leadership Bonus

The Leadership Bonus of a Warlord is conferred upon all Units in the same stack.

The Leadership Bonus of a Chief Warlord applies to all units of their capital.Erf-b1-p040aSame-site.PNG A Chief Warlord in the field confers his full bonus to the units in his stack, one-half his bonus (rounded down) to all his units in the hex, and one-third (rounded down) to all units of his Side Erf-b2-p012Same-site.PNG.

Speculation

The bonus is directly proportional to the warlord's level.

Apparently the leadership bonus is very significant (and thus very important), since leaderless stacks are relatively weak.Erf-b1-p058Same-site.PNG, Erf-b1-p113Same-site.PNG, Erf-b1-p125Same-site.PNG, Erf-b1-p128Same-site.PNG

Leadership may combine with magic and/or special abilities to produce special spells that guide unit actions. For example, the Archons which produced the DDR hologram to lead the coalition dance fight in the battle for gobwin knobErf-b1-p128Same-site.PNG had the leadership special as part of their skillset.summer-updates---046 External.png

Unlike Warlords, whose leadership bonus is equal to their level, the leadership bonus of Archons seems to be half their level, rounded down.Hvs.tCF 136

Leadership units

"Leadership" can also refer to either a single leader or group of leaders such as Warlords or Casters. Gobwin Knob sought to target or "hit" the leadership of the Royal Crown Coalition to deny RCC forces leadership bonuses. They were successful when they hit RCC Leaders Duke Nozzle and the Blue Warlord.

Leadership Bonus Unit Name Details
2 Parson Gotti TBFGK 40a This apparently is a very unimpressive number, especially for a Chief Warlord, and was calculated before the arrival of his sword, which conferred "Leadership".
Dora TBFGK 50 NOTE: This may be a reference to level rather than leadership bonus.
4 Bonnie Hvs.tCF 136 Whilst her level is 9, her leadership bonus is only 4 as a result of her being an Archon, and not a Warlord.
5 Sir Webinar TBFGK 50 NOTE: This may be a reference to level rather than leadership bonus.
8 Wanda Firebaugh As a Croakamancer, the bonus applies only to Decrypted and uncroaked.
9 Jillian Zamussels TBFGK 50 NOTE: This may be a reference to level rather than leadership bonus. By Book 3 she is level 10.
10 Prince Ansom TBFGK 50 This is his level, but indicates his bonus as well.LIAB 12
