Proposed Canon

First Appearance: TBFGK 75

The "Knights in Stanley's Service" are elite warriors handpicked from Stanley's natural allies for their battle prowess and ability to rock with him.Erf-b1-p111Same-site.PNG They wear black & white uniforms, including full face paint.

At the start of Book 1, the KISS are Hobgobwin knights high enough level to rout basic infantry (such as Marbits) and even fight warlord class units to a stalemate.Erf-b1-p113Same-site.PNG and Erf-b1-p076Same-site.PNG

As Stanley orders the Knights mustered from among the corps of ordinary hobgobwins within the cityErf-b1-p075Same-site.PNG, keeping the Knights in Stanley's Service prepared for battle at all times may have a drawback, such as an increased upkeep, or possibly that they were normally used as some kind of low-level leader for the hobgoblin units.

The only KISS to survive the events in Book 1 is Vurp, one of the three top KISS who Stanley took with him to build a new side on the ruins of Faq if Gobwin Knob fell. Upon returning to Gobwin Knob, Stanley spent a large amount of Shmuckers repopulating the Hobgobwin tribe from Vurp, including new Knights.LIAB Prologue 24

After the Siege of Spacerock, the Knights accompanied Stanley to a battle with Jillian Zamussels, who had been sacking outlying Gobwin Knob cities on her way from Spacerock to Faq.Hvs.tCF 6 During the battle, Charlie and Vanna used binding arbitration to coerce the tribe into betraying Stanley by turning to Charlescomm.

In Book 3, Jed advised Stanley to replace the KISS with Juggle Elves.Hvs.tCF 71 Stanley allied with that tribe and promoted 15 of themHvs.tCF 83 to be the Jed Eye Knights.

Real World References

The Knights are an obvious homage to a well known band KISS. The warpaint worn by the Knights copies the stage paint that KISS wear during their live shows and music videos.

The name "Knights in Stanley's Service" is based upon a common myth that the RealWorld Rock Group KISS took their name as the acronym for the phrase "Knights in Satan's Service".
