Summer Updates Breaking Links

So, it seems that the naming on the "Summer Updates" on the Blog have become increasingly inconsistent and are breaking about half the time when you try to link out to them using this template. Do we have any idea it there is any plan to fix them, or is there a way to modify the template to take this inconsistent naming into account? --MisterB777 19:38, 17 November 2009 (UTC)

Thing is, the template itself is agnostic to the exact name of the blog post in which the Summer Update resides - mainly because, as you note here, the naming convention is irregular and MediaWiki has no way of checking whether an external link exists or not. The alternative would be to keep a separate list of all "proper" intermission links in an include-only template, but that would mean running a large template "if" statement every time someone wants to cite the blog - which is somewhat undesirable itself.
So, long story made short: there's a way, but it's kludgy and may not be worth the effort. Menlo Marseilles 03:54, 19 November 2009 (UTC)
Should there be a way to specify the appearance of the text and mouseover independent of the actual link, so we don't have links that look like summer-updates-%e2%80%93-046 External.png (see Charlescomm). I mean, if we could say that the it should look more like Blog Entry summer-updates 046 with some more readable mouseover text. So it's not a big "if" statement, but the citer is responsible for saying what the cite should look like (if different from some default appearance).–Dan Hoeytalk 03:48, 8 December 2009 (UTC)
