Panel 1

Parson approaches Maggie, who is standing in front of a door and looking over her shoulder at him.[edit]

Parson Gotti: How's she doing?

Maggie: She surely won't recover this turn.

But I believe she will recover.

Panel 2

Parson and Maggie talk from a closer distance.[edit]

Parson Gotti: When? It matters.

Maggie: I do not know, Lord Hamster.

Parson Gotti: Arright...

You've done everything you can for her?

Panel 3

Maggie and Parson continue to speak in front of the door.[edit]

Maggie: All reasonable measures.

Given that you have further need of my services this turn.

Panel 4

Parson walks away from Maggie, down a hallway with an arched ceiling.[edit]

Parson Gotti: Yeah.

I do.

'k let's go talk to Charlie.

Panel 5

Parson has seated himself behind Stanley's desk in the Observation deck of the Tower of Efdup. Maggie stands at the desk facing him.[edit]

Maggie: I still advise against this, Lord. The Arkendish affords him a command of Thinkamancy I cannot match.

Parson Gotti: Just protect me the best you can.

Keep him from planting suggestions and stuff, okay?

Panel 6

Maggie holds her hand out a few inches from Parson's forehead. There is a subtle white glow emanating from her palm.[edit]

Maggie: I will do my level best, my Lord.

Parson Gotti: Break it off at the first sign of anything squirrely.

Panel 7

Maggie holds up her right hand defensively. Parson looks at her with a frustrated expression.[edit]

Maggie: I will, Lord.

But I simply...

Parson Gotti: What?

Panel 8

Maggie takes on a firm schoolmarm air as she explains to Parson. Her grayness -- gray hair, grey skin tone, gray suit -- accentuates the impression.[edit]

Maggie: I feel I am failing to impress upon you the inherent danger.

Charlie follows his own rules.

He has an unknown agenda. He is really quite impenetrable and... bizarre.

Panel 9

Parson looks at Maggie suspiciously.[edit]

Parson Gotti: Maggie, at this point I'm expecting him to be a tuna.[1]

But unless we can divide the Coalition, we have no chance to survive make our time.[2]

Maggie: Sorry, make our...?

Parson Gotti: We are on the way to destruction! Ha. Ha. Ha. Ha.

Panel 10

Parson smiles at his own joke -- one Maggie will never understand. Maggie places her fingers on his face.[3][edit]

Maggie: Very well. Perhaps you are a match for Charlie's strangeness.

Close your eyes, Lord.

Parson Gotti: We get signal![4]

Panel 11

Two blurred images of Parson overlap. One is a close up of Parson's face with eyes closed. In the other, he is wearing an odd red shirt.[edit]

Parson: Main screen turn on...[5]

Sound: TELEP

Panel 12

Parson is wearing a red jumpsuit with a large point-down silver triangle emblem on the front. He is bathed in a single bright white spot light that causes the background to be completely black.[6][edit]
Speaker: Hello! Thank you for calling Charlescomm, your battlespace solutions provider. [edit]

Panel 13

The panel shows an Archon floating cross-legged in front of the spotlit Parson. She is shown from behind, has reddish brown hair that reaches her shoulder blades, and wears the same blue stewardess costume the previous Archons have worn. Parson sees his own reception-room appearance for the first time.[edit]

Parson Gotti: Right.

Very nice.

Archon: Your mind is important to us, and it may be monitored for quality assurance purposes.[7]

  1. ^ A reference to the StarKist advertising mascot "Charlie the Tuna"
  2. ^ Parson is quoting from "All Your Base Are Belong To Us". The game Zero Wing begins with a cutscene in which a gloating enemy explains that his side has conquered most Earth forces (except the protagonist's ship). The game was released to the US market with a comically bad translation of this cutscene (in which the enemy declares that "All your base are belong to us"), which became an Internet meme in the early 2000s.
  3. ^ The position of Maggie's fingers on Parson's face resembles a Vulcan Mind Meld.
  4. ^ Parson continues to quote "All Your Base Are Belong To Us".
  5. ^ Parson continues to quote "All Your Base Are Belong To Us".
  6. ^ Parson appears in Charlie's "reception room" wearing Mork's outfit from Mork and Mindy. The spotlight view resembles the standard episode-closing scene of Mork reporting to his superior "Orson".
  7. ^ A parody of the standard reassurance and notification "Your call is important to us, and may be monitored for quality assurance purposes" often used by telephone receptionists when they field incoming customer calls.
