Panel 1

A city with circular walls lies on a plateau in the midst of towering mountains. A moat is fed by a stream, and a few houses dot the landscape outside of the walls. In the middle of the city is a large, Japanese style pagoda that rises high over the walls and city.[edit]

Jillian Zamussels: Faq[1] was just a tiny kingdom.

A capital and two subordinate cities, with mountains on all sides.

Prince Ansom: Completely?

Jillian Zamussels: Complete enough. Accessible only by air and tunnel.

Panel 2

Jillian gestures against the background of the tent as she speaks to Ansom.[edit]

Jillian Zamussels: And it was weird. Utopian.

A bubble kingdom.

Prince Ansom: Hmf.

Jillian Zamussels: I know.

Prince Ansom: There's no such thing.

Jillian Zamussels: I know!

Panel 3

A flashback scene shows a large man dressed in green lecturing to kneeling listeners. The clothing is Asian, bearing strong resemblances to Japanese. One student bears a skull in her hair, and appears to be Wanda. Another resembles Stanley's Foolamancer.[edit]

Jillian Zamussels: But King Banhammer[2] liked to think it was.

That was my father.

He treated his warlords like crap, the few he had.

Panel 4

A flashback scene shows a human unit wearing green Japanese-style armor leaning back against a wall, hand raised to catch a yawn. His bearing is quite unmilitary.[edit]

Prince Ansom: Did you even have soldiers to command?

Jillian Zamussels: What we had were... more like clerks.

Panel 5

Ansom is wearing his plate armor, seated across the table from Jillian. His red cape falls back behind his chair.[edit]

Jillian Zamussels: My father liked his rules. Picture your man Webinar as a King. But obsessed with philosophy, not battle.

Prince Ansom: How long could a Kingdom like that exist?

Panel 6

A flashback scene shows warriors clad in the green Oriental-style armor of Faq mounted astride gwiffons and engaged in fierce battle.[edit]

Jillian Zamussels: A long time. We had mines, and farms, and a good Foolamancer.

We'd do mercenary work with gwiffon squads, when there was no other way to boost the treasury.

Always for far-off sides who didn't know where we were from.

Panel 7

A flashback scene shows Jillian in Faq-style armor, striking an enemy hard with a fist. She is gritting her teeth from the force of the impact.[edit]

Prince Ansom: Dangerous.

Jillian Zamussels: I loved it.

Being so far from my father's kingdom, living by my sword ... My wits? My guts?

Panel 8

Jillian casts an uncomfortable sidelong glance as she speaks to Ansom, whom is off panel.[edit]

Jillian Zamussels: Felt like the only time I was alive. I hated the old man. And it was mutual. He should never've had an heir.

Prince Ansom: Why did he?

Panel 9

A flashback scene shows Jillian in her Faq armor, grimacing as she turns her back on King Banhammer. He appears to be angrily berating her about something.[edit]

Jillian Zamussels: His Predictamancer told him that his precious toy kingdom would fall someday.

So he ordered an heir popped.

Only instead of a perfect little philosopher-prince like he wanted?

...He got a sword-swinging madwoman, who knows exactly which fork to use to pluck out an eyeball.

...but not for the salad.

Panel 10

A flashback scene shows Jillian from behind. She is wearing her green Faq armor and has set her sword on top of the wall she is leaning against.[edit]

Prince Ansom: Far left.

Jillian Zamussels: What?

Panel 11

Ansom holds the index finger and thumb of his left hand together as though holding something delicate.[edit]

Prince Ansom: The smaller fork with the one stronger tine. That's for the salad.

Jillian Zamussels: Oh it is the eyeball one.
